Aladdin and the magical lamp
(The Arabian Nights)

Aladdin and his mother were extremely poor. They were so poor that on some days they could not even manage two meals. One day, Aladdin kept searching for the work the whole day but he could not get any work. Tired, when Aladdin came back home in the evening, his mother told that there was very little rice and pulses left. Both got worried and started thinking that if Aladdin did not get the work the next day, then how would they manage. Meanwhile, somebody knocked at the door. Aladdin and his mother both got worried that if it was a guest, they had nothing to offer him. Aladdin went and opened the door. There he saw an old man standing. The old man asked whether it was the house of Mustafa tailor? Aladdin said yes and asked about his introduction. The old man said to Aladdin, “I am brother of your father. Many years before, I went to the foreign country and just now returning from there. Where is your father?”
Aladdin’s mother replied, “His father died many years ago. He is the only son. We are in awfully bad condition”. The old man asked them not worry any more. He gave some money to Aladdin and asked him to bring the food. That night all had a nice meal. Before going to sleep, the old man told that he had earned a lot of money from abroad and that he would be staying with them now. He also told that the next day he had some work and he would be taking Aladdin with him and that by the evening, they would come back.
In fact, the old man was not Mustafa’s brother but a conjurer (magician). Next day morning, the old man took Aladdin to a cave covered with a big rock, in the nearby forest. Both of them moved the rock aside. The old man asked Aladdin to go down and move straight into the cave and get him the lamp which he would surely find inside the cave.
Aladdin went inside the cave. As he moved forward, he was astonished to find a lot of pearls, jewels, diamonds and many more valuables. Aladdin filled his pockets and his bag with those valuables. Meanwhile he heard the voice of the old man saying, “Aladdin, get the lamp quickly”. Then Aladdin noticed a lamp lying in a corner and it was very dusty. Aladdin picked up the lamp and came to the entrance of the cave.
Aladdin asked the old man to pull him up by holding his hand. But the old man asked Aladdin to hand over the lamp to him first. But Aladdin insisted with the old man to pull him up first. Both were rigid in their stand and lot of time elapsed without any outcome. The old man angrily said, “OK Aladdin, you be here only. I am going”. Saying so, the old man covered the cave with the rock and left. Aladdin kept shouting but there was nobody to hear his voice. Tired, Aladdin sat down with the lamp in his hand. Somehow, the lamp got rubbed against the wall and immediately a genie appeared before Aladdin. Aladdin was shivering out of fear to see such a gigantic figure. Aladdin asked in his shivering voice, “Who are you?” The genie replied, “I am the slave of this lamp. Whoever holds this lamp, that person is my Master. From now onwards, you are my Master. Please tell me what can I do for you”. Hearing this, Aladdin felt incredibly happy. He first asked genie to take him to his house. Within a fraction of second, Aladdin was at his house. Aladdin asked genie to build a nice palace for them. From then onwards, Aladdin and his mother started living happily. Later, Aladdin became the king of Baghdad.

Spiritual Significance: – Allah means God, Shiv Baba and Allah is the One who establishes the first religion, the religion of the deities. He gives liberation-in-life to His children in a second. A vision is received in a second. Limitless treasures have been portrayed. In her visions, Meera used to dance with Shri Krishna. That was the path of devotion. Baba says that His children will go to the Paradise as their fortune and rule the kingdom there in a practical way. Just as Aladdin got the kingdom by rubbing the lamp, Shiv Baba similarly makes the children the masters of the heaven when they remember the Father.
